The Erie Shores Hospice Campus received a helpful donation from a group of local children to help cover annual operating costs.
Members from the group Kids Curing Cancer (KCC) presented a $8,234 cheque to the hospital's foundation Friday.
The sibling-run group has donated over $78,000 towards healthcare-related programs across Windsor-Essex since 2014 in memory of the grandfather Dan Gerard.
"In 2021 Erie Shores Health Foundation (ESHF) was notified that KCC selected the Hospice Erie Shores Campus as their next benefactor after several family members had used the facility that year," read a statement from ESHF.
The Erie Shores Campus in Leamington is a 10-bed facility that receives partial government funding. The campus heavily relies on the support of the community to continue providing its services of compassionate end-of-life care at no cost to the families.
The Erie Shores Campus was selected again for the group's 2022-2023 fundraising year.
