Thankfully no one was injured after food left cooking on the stove for too long led to a house fire Thursday evening.
According to Windsor Fire and Rescue, sometime around 8 p.m., crews were called to a home in the area of Dougall Avenue, south of Tecumseh Road West, for an upgraded working fire.
When firefighters arrived, workers managed to get the blaze under control quickly, before they started to ventilate and conduct an overhaul of the home.
It has been determined that an unattended cooking pot on the stove led to the fire. No injuries have been reported.
Fire officials have pegged the damage at $100,000. One resident has been displaced as a result.
