Sarnia's First Pokemon Go Event A Success

Sarnia's first official Pokemon Go event has been deemed a success.

Sarnia-Lambton Rebound Program Coordinator Kaylee Potts says over 100 people, both young and old, had attended their "lure drop" by noon Friday.

The "lures'' are objects in the game that attract Pokemon creatures and players.

"We've had a great turnout," said Potts. "Within the first ten minutes we had a Scyther, for people who know what that is, come through at 795. So, a pretty high level. It's been good."

Potts says they looked at the apps popularity as an opportunity to bring people to Rebound and educate them on what the organization does.

Participants were offered free wifi and ice cold drinks. Rebound also had a $1 barbecue.

Pokemon Go sends players searching for digital creatures that pop up on smartphone screens as they move through real-world locations.
