The 158th warden was piped into the Lambton County council chambers in Wyoming Wednesday morning.
Lambton Shores Mayor Bill Weber, the only declared candidate, was acclaimed to a second consecutive two-year term.
Weber said he thinks he'll be able to help blend councillors with experience with those with a new vision.
"I've wanted to bring all areas of the county together to get the service level from our economic partnerships, our economic development, and our tourism so that we don't have areas that feel we're not getting any value out of that partner. So I want to continue that," he said.
Weber said the seven new councillors on county council will represent positive change for the community.
"There's new ideas around the table, there's new thoughts that we have to listen to, and the experience from the sitting councillors and previous councillors, will temper that with something that is good going forward," he said.
Weber was elected to serve on the newly amalgamated Lambton Shores council in 2000, and was a councillor until 2010 when he was elected mayor, a position he's held since.
Enniskillen Township Mayor Kevin Marriott defeated Sarnia Councillor Mike Stark in a secret ballot vote for deputy warden.
Marriott said he's optimistic that he can add to the continued growth in Lambton County.
"The economy is stronger than it was four years ago, and I think if anything we need to build our population to bring in new people to meet the employment opportunities," said Marriott. "All of a sudden we've went from needing jobs to having lots of jobs, and now we need the people."
Marriott said the county's large shoreline presents a great opportunity for new developments.
Marriott is a cash crop farmer who has served on Enniskillen Township Council for the last 24 years, including seven as deputy mayor and the last seven as mayor.
