Union members gathered early Thursday morning in downtown Sarnia to hold what they call a community action outside the post office.
Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) member Michele LaLonge-Davey said they want to show their support for members of Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUP-W) at Canada Post, who were forced back to work by the federal government late last month.
"Part one, it's a message of support to the CUP-W workers that have been forced back to work and legislated back to work into unsafe and overwhelming working conditions, causing injury and poor life circumstances, etc," said LaLonge-Davey.
She said she wants both the government and employer to see the support for the workers across the country and even though back to work legislation was passed, there's no reason change cant still be affected.
The back to work-legislation was passed on November 26, ending five weeks of rotating strikes.
A government-appointed arbitrator has 90 days to try and reach contract settlements between the two parties.
If an agreement is not reached, however, a settlement could be imposed by the arbitrator.
