On Friday June 28 Lambton OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E check on Main Street in the Town of Grand Bend.
At approximately 12:05 a.m. a vehicle entered the R.I.D.E check.
While speaking with the driver, the officer formed the opinion that the driver had recently consumed an alcoholic beverage. At this time, a roadside screening device was administered. A reading of "fail" was determined. As a result, the driver lawfully provided two additional samples of breath in excess of the legal limit.
A 22-year-old Bluewater man has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia at a later date.
Also during the R.I.D.E. check a 27 year-old from Kitchener was issued a 3-day suspension and a 36 year-old from London was charged for driving a motor vehicle under suspension and having care and control of a motor vehicle with cannabis readily accessible.
