Sarnia-Lambton municipalities are getting nearly $3.2 million in additional pandemic-related funding.
MPPs Bob Bailey of Sarnia-Lambton and Monte McNaughton of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex jointly announced the Safe Restart Agreement funding Wednesday.
It'll be used to offset operating costs for critical services and help ensure that municipalities in Lambton County do not carry operating deficits into 2021.
“This funding will provide the communities in Lambton County with the support they need to continue delivering critical services that we all rely on everyday,” said Bailey in a statement. McNaughton said “today’s announcement will help all our local municipalities develop a 2021 budget that reflects the reality of COVID-19 and give them the confidence they need to proceed with capital projects that will drive economic growth."

Allocations in Sarnia-Lambton range from $16,000 in Dawn-Euphemia to $722,000 for the County of Lambton. The Village of Point Edward gets $620,000, Warwick Township $514,000, the Town of Petrolia $498,000 and the City of Sarnia $407,000.
The Ontario government is allocating an additional $695 million to municipalities across the province.
