Sarnia police have a suspect in custody following a pair of bank robberies on Monday afternoon.
At around 2:25 p.m., a man entered the Bank of Montreal at Lambton Mall Road and London Road in disguise.
It's alleged he handed the teller a note demanding money, and claimed to have a gun. While the teller left to get the money, the suspect drove off.
Police were able to get a description of the accused and the vehicle from witnesses.
About 30 minutes later, police said the same man held up the Scotiabank in Bright's Grove, and fled westbound on Lakeshore Road.
The suspect was later found running through backyards in the area of Lewis Lane and Passingham Drive.
He allegedly dumped the money out of his pockets, and into a blue bin.
Officers took the suspect into custody without incident, and found the vehicle at Mike Weir Park with stolen licence plates on it.
Police found the stolen cash, and no firearm was ever located or seen.
James Allan White, 36, of Sarnia is charged with robbery with theft, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, attempted robbery, and two counts of disguise with intent.
He is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
