Above normal temperatures are expected as we officially enter the winter season.
Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Steven Flisfeder said this week will also see a couple of weak lower pressure systems, bringing some light flurries and rain.
"Looking at some warmer temperatures, up to 4 C, 39 F and rain just to make things a little bit slushier for everyone," said Flisfeder.
He said there's some indication Sarnia-Lambton will see some more than normal precipitation this winter.
"What we're seeing for the next month into mid to late January, we're looking at more than likely above seasonal temperatures and we're also expecting above seasonal precipitation," he said. "But, how that precipitation falls, whether it's snow or rain or something in between, that's all going to be highly dependent on the temperatures at the surface as well as just above the surface."
The normal high for this time of year in the Sarnia area is 0 C, 32 F.
Winter officially arrives at 10:59 a.m. Tuesday, and it will be the shortest day of the year with the fewest hours of daylight.
