New collective agreement reached at Clean Harbors

A collective agreement has been reached at Clean Harbors, bringing a strike by 76 employees to a halt.

Workers at the Telfer Road landfill, members of Unifor Local 914, walked off the job on Monday, November 22, after negotiations failed to reach a new agreement.

National Service Representative Gary Lynch said Saturday's vote was "heavily in favour of the deal".

He added the new agreement addressed seniority and a gender equality issue with a four year deal worth 10.25% in wage and benefit gains.

Unifor's Energy Sector lead negotiator, Scott Doherty Executive Assistant to the National President, was brought in to engage the company and get the firm to the finish line.
