The first fall fair of the Lambton circuit will be without a popular attraction this year.
Petrolia and Enniskillen Agricultural Society Spokesperson Judy Krall said there will be no midway this year. She said the COVID pandemic and its impact on the amusement rides industry is to blame.
Krall said they've lined up other activities instead.
"So what we're doing is we're going to have inflatables, we're going to have a dunk tank with some celebrities in there for people to come out and do that, and axe throwing," said Krall. "It's challenging to replace an amusement ride company when it's something that has been a fixture at a fall fair for a number of years."
Krall said the theme this year is 120 Years, Together Again.
"It's the 120th anniversary of the Lambton County Fairs Organization," she said. "So we're celebrating that and coming back together after COVID."
Opening ceremonies get underway at 7 p.m. Friday at the Greenwood Recreation Centre, and the parade is at 11 a.m. Saturday starting on Tank Street along Petrolia Line to Huggard Street, to the fairgrounds.
"In the evening [Saturday] in the arena will be the Jeff Leeson comedy show, there will also be the antique tractor pull on Saturday night at 7 p.m. and Sunday of course, highlight of the day there is the demolition derby at 1 p.m.," said Krall.
