A 35-year-old Sarnia man is facing several charges after city police seized suspected fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, prescription pills, and prohibited weapons.
A driver was arrested on May 3 for an alleged incident that took place back in March.
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle travelling northbound on Margaret Street on March 26 for using unauthorized licence plates. Police said the driver sped off and the chase was called off due to public safety concerns.
At approximately 5 a.m. on May 3, the same officer reportedly spotted a man and woman walking from the same vehicle in the 100 block of Walnut Street. The male suspect was arrested for flight from police but during a search, police seized various drugs, worth approximately $6,528.
It's alleged police seized five dime bags of crystal methamphetamine, one dime bag containing fentanyl, one dime bag containing hydromorphone pills, a collapsible baton, a cell phone, a digital scale, and numerous empty dime bags.
The accused was taken to the Sarnia police station where a secondary search revealed concealed items such as two dime bags of fentanyl and one dime bag of heroin.
In total, 20.2 grams of fentanyl was seized, along with 17.17 g of methamphetamine, 12.2 g of heroin, and 8 hydromorphone pills.
The accused, Joshua Erdodi, was charged with the following:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Hydromorphone
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Heroin
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Flight from police
Erdodi was held for a bail hearing and has since been remanded into custody. Charges against the accused have not been proven in court.
