Sarnia police have arrested an alleged suspect in connection with a violent home invasion over the summer.
Police were called to a home on Earlscourt Drive shortly after 2 a.m. on July 22.
An 81-year-old victim was awoken from his sleep to find a person standing in his bedroom. Police said the victim, who had difficulty understanding the suspect's demands, was violently attacked and suffered serious injuries including a fractured skull and multiple lacerations. The victim's wife called police after hearing the commotion from another room.
The suspect fled the scene with property belonging to the victim.
Officers were unable to locate the suspect following an extensive search, however, forensic evidence was seized along with video surveillance images.
