An event for dogs and animal lovers will be held this weekend to support the Sarnia & District Humane Society.
The annual Dog Festival will be held on Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Fox and Hound Canine Retreat, held in partnership with Coldwell Banker Southwest Realty.
Retreat Owner Katie Fuller said over 35 vendors, including food and drink merchants, will be at the event.
In terms of entertainment, The Flying Furballs will put on three shows during the day and Aqua Dogs will also be on hand to perform diving tricks, both are from the Greater Toronto Area.
"They're pretty cool to watch," said Fuller. "We also have lure coursing and that is something people, with their dogs, can try."
Fuller said the pool will be open if local dogs want to jump in for a swim. There will also be an off-leash area, provided that the dogs play well with others.
Dogs that are up for adoption through the Sarnia & District Humane Society will also be showcased during the event.
The Dog Festival launched in 2018. After a brief pause caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event returned with a co-host, Coldwell Banker. Fuller said roughly 2,000 people attended the event in previous years.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online, Fuller also said people can purchase tickets at the door.
Further details about the Dog Festival can be found on the Facebook event page.
The Fox and Hound Canine Retreat is located near the intersection of Michigan Line and Brigden Road.
