Our local oil heritage will be celebrated in Oil Springs Saturday.
Black Gold Fest is being held at the Oil Museum of Canada, National Historic Site, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lambton County Museums and Archives spokesperson Jessica Stevenson said there will be fun activities for all ages.
"Lawn games, face-painting, and crafts," said Stevenson. "Historical blacksmithing demonstrations will run throughout the day at the Blacksmith Shop and a model pipeline display provided by Enbridge Inc. will demonstrate how pipelines operate."
A historical reenactor will play Jacob Lewis Englehart, the man behind Imperial Oil, with shows beginning at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
“We’re excited to welcome the community back to this popular summer event,” Stevenson added. “This year’s Black Gold Fest will introduce oil history topics that we haven’t explored before at this event, including the technology of pipelines and the history of Imperial Oil. We’re hoping for great weather and a fantastic day.”
While admission to Black Gold Fest is free, Stevenson said donations are gratefully accepted.
