The City of Sarnia has reached provincial housing targets and will receive funding from the Building Faster Fund.
On Wednesday, Mayor Mike Bradley received a letter from Ontario's Minister of Housing Paul Calandra congratulating him for the municipality's performance.
Sarnia's target for 2023 was 73 housing starts, that goal was exceeded as the municipality managed 94 starts during the specified time period.
The targets assigned to Ontario's largest and fastest-growing municipalities are to meet the provincial government's goal of building at least 1.5 million homes by 2031.
The data used to track how each city is doing so far has been provided by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
"I am pleased to inform you that the City of Sarnia is eligible to receive funding under the Building Faster Fund for 2023," Minister Calandra's letter said. "I look forward to continuing our work together to ensure that more people can afford a place to call home."
Details about how much money Sarnia will receive and when it can be expected have yet to be announced.
