WINDSOR SELECTS SPOTLIGHT: JEREMY ORTON

Another Windsor Selects product is heading to Madonna University this fall to play NAIA baseball for the school based out of Livonia, Michigan.

Jeremy Orton, who won the 2014-15 Royal Arcanum award this year for his athletic achievements in four sports at Essex District High School, will join four former Selects players on the Crusaders roster. Among them is Orton's current Selects teammate and good friend, Mitch Hudvanger.

"We work on things together," Orton says of Hudvanger, who will be a sophomore at Madonna in the fall. "After practices or something we'll take extra swings in the cage and he'll correct me if I'm doing things wrong."

Orton was first recruited last fall when his Selects 18U team played against the Crusaders and the coach noticed his skills. He visited the school multiple times and saw some of their games this past season.

The 6'3", 190 lb Orton was attracted to Madonna not only because of his connections there, but also because the school offers the program he was looking for.

"I was going into education I want to be a teacher and one of their main programs is education," Orton says, "I'm going to take math education and hopefully come out to be a math teacher."
