NFL Draft Continues Today

With the first round of the NFL Draft in the books, the focus now shifts to rounds 2 and 3.

Senior writer at Detroitlions.com Tim Twentyman says defensive back could be an option. He says the Lions typically like taller DB's with good speed. "You've got a number of those guys, Quinten Rollins, (Eric) Rowe, the kid from Utah, guys who are versatile, guys who played safety and corner, guys who are all above 6' feet tall, can run," says Twentyman. He adds a safety might be an option in the 3rd Round in a draft class at that position that isn't that great.

Twentyman says another position to keep an eye on is receiver. "If they can get a guy who can play the slot, like a Tyler Lockett from Kansas State," says Twentyman. "You know a guy who was a 1,000 yard receiver, over 100 catches, but is also one of the best return men, I think they really, really want to bolster that return game, want to make that a weapon."

The Lions selected offensive guard Laken Tomlinson as their first round pick and 28th overall yesterday.

The draft gets underway at 7pm. The event wraps up tomorrow with rounds 4-7 getting underway at 12pm.
