One local community is making it easier for some residents to spay and neuter their kitties.
The town of Tecumseh is once again offering a Cat Spay and Neuter Voucher Program to residents who qualify.
Tecumseh director of corporate services Laura Moy says in a news release that the program is an effort to reduce the number of feral cats in the municipality. The program is in conjunction with local animal hospitals and veterinarians.
The town says it has set aside 95 vouchers valued at $50 apiece.
The vouchers are reserved for low-income families living in Tecumseh, Moy says. Declaration or proof of income may be required. A maximum of three vouchers will be issued where the cats are owned.
Feral cat caregivers are eligible for a maximum of five vouchers with no income restrictions.
Cat lovers interested in applying for the program can pick up an application at Tecumseh Town Hall weekdays during regular business hours or on the town's official website.
Vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
