The second day of the 2018 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo gets underway Wednesday morning.
Gates to the tented city officially opened Tuesday morning with several of Ontario's political leaders in attendance.
The second day of events will include live music throughout the day, the Team Farmall dancing tractors, and a show by the Canadian Cowgirls. They'll be at the Rodeo Ring at 10:30 a.m. and again at 2:30 p.m.
An attempt at the Guinness World Record for largest Caesar will also take place Wednesday afternoon. The final cocktail mixing is scheduled to happen at 2:30 p.m. following a parade to the Lounge.
Attendees on Tuesday attempted to break a world record for having the most people participate in an egg and spoon race, however, that bid was unsuccessful. The record was set in 2012 in the United Kingdom with 1,445 participants, which meant Chatham-Kent needed 1,446 participants. No official numbers were announced but there was well under 1,000 people taking part in the attempt.
Mike Marcotte, an adjudicator with Guinness World Records, was at Tuesday's event and said he still has "high hopes" for world record attempts that will follow this week.
"With Guinness World Record attempts things go viral quickly," he said. "As word gets out and more and more people show up I think we'll have better chances here as the week continues."
Other world record attempts to be held throughout the week include having the most people bobbing for apples, building the largest sugar cube structure, and having the most people eating corn on the cob at one time.
