A respiratory therapist is planning a family vacation this winter after winning $25,000 from the Erie Shores Health Foundation in Leamington.
"I actually missed the phone call," said Kevin Dunn after winning big in the Almost $50K Giveaway.
Dunn was enjoying his day off at the gym during the draw on September 28.
"I was on my way home when my wife called me," he said. "My wife was pretty excited, and I also called my coworker to let him know. He thought I was joking."
The foundation launched the giveaway last July to raise money for new diagnostic equipment at Erie Shores Healthcare and Erie Shores Hospice in Leamington. It sold almost 1,700 tickets and raised $18,000.
Dunn won the big prize after the foundation gave away a daily prize during the month of September.
"We are always looking for ways that we can raise funds to support healthcare in our community," said Executive Director Ross Barnwell. "One winner had been treated for a serious heart attack at Erie Shores HealthCare and purchased a ticket as his way to give back."
