It has been six months since a University of Windsor student was murdered and police are still searching for the people who did it.
Jason Pantlitz-Solomon, 20, of Toronto was gunned down in the early morning hours of August 27 at the corner of Ouellette Avenue and University Avenue. Windsor police said it is the only active homicide investigation from 2018 where the responsible parties have yet to be identified. Police officials are also reminding the public there is still a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and prosecution of the suspects.
Police said two men firing weapons ran across Ouellette toward Panlitz-Solomon and his 19-year-old girlfriend around 2:40 a.m. and struck the victims. The men then ran back toward Ouellette, turned the corner, and headed toward Chatham Street, where police said they took off in a newer model white Nissan Altima. Panlitz-Solomon died of his injuries in the hospital, while his girlfriend was treated and released.
"Someone knows something," police said in a Wednesday afternoon tweet. "Please call us or remain anonymous at Crime Stoppers."

Investigators said there are possible connections to an incident that occurred in the Peel Region the following day, where the victim was from. A vehicle matching the description of the getaway car was involved in an incident with Peel police, and a male suspect is still at large. A firearm strongly believed to be connected to Solomon's murder was recovered in that car and police are convinced that this murder was targeted.
Authorities said the suspects hid their identities very well by wearing hoodies over their heads and having most of their faces concealed. A photo of the fleeing suspects released by Windsor police is shown above.
