Officials with the local English-Catholic school board reported more students were dismissed from an elementary school in Windsor due to COVID-19 concerns.
The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board announced Saturday evening that two classes and a bus cohort were told not to attend school at St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School on Monday, after three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were identified there.
"We have been working with the Health Unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected," said school board spokesman Stephen Fields in a release. "The health unit is contacting any individuals, both students and staff, who may have been affected, and will give directions for them to follow."
Families are advised to monitor their children for possible symptoms of COVID-19 prior to sending their child off to school and to keep them home and call their doctor or healthcare provider for further direction if they are ill.
There are four other WECDSB schools with active cases of the virus, all of which remain open.
Additional information about the positive cases can be found on the board's website.
