Chances are, some of your favourite local beers won accolades at the 2021 Ontario Brewing Awards.
Walkerville Brewery, Kingsville Brewery, Grove Brew House, and Sons of Kent all won medals last Thursday night in a virtual ceremony.
Walkerville won two gold for its Honest Lager in the Amber Bitter European Beer category and Scotch Ale in the Scottish Ale competition. The Windsor brewery also won a bronze medal for Kremlin Russian Imperial Stout in the American Porter and Stout.
The brewery has won 21 awards over six years, including nine gold medals.
"Winning at competitions like this not only validates what our loyal customers already tell us but is obviously a great credit to the fantastic quality work of our brewing team," said Partner Ian Gourlay.
Kingsville Brewery won the gold in the British Bitter category for Hefeweizen and an honourable mention in the International Lager category for Light Eh! Lager.
Also, in Essex County, the Grove Brew House won an honourable mention for its 1933 Oktoberfest Lager.
Sons of Kent in Chatham came away with a bronze medal for its Scotch Ale in the Amber and Brown American Beer category.
Brewers competed in 35 categories this year.
Double Tempest by Amsterdam Brewing Company in Toronto won Best of Show.
