Pop-up vaccination clinics continue at JMCC

The John McGivney Children's Centre (JMCC) has made the COVID-19 vaccine process easier for kids as a vaccination clinic continues this week.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will host the clinic at the centre on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the JMCC has planned activities for kids who are accompanying parents as they get their shots, or are waiting to get a vaccine themselves.

The costumed characters Hero Boy and Hero Girl will be at the centre on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., and again Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Other planned activities include a gift bag for kids, a colouring contest, and a prize draw for a family fun gift basket. The JMCC will also have its fully-accessible playground open so kids can play while waiting for their shots.

The clinic is free of charge and walk-in only, with no appointment accepted. First and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccines will be available for everyone starting at age five, along with booster shots for Ontarians 18 and older.

The clinic will also have flu shots available and translation services for people requiring them.

The JMCC is located on Matchette Road in west Windsor, across from the east entrance to Mic Mac Park.

The health unit is urging patience for those who would like a vaccine dose. Messages to WindsorNewsToday.ca reported long lines Monday at the centre for a vaccine.
