Big Brothers Big Sisters moving to downtown Windsor

Big Brother Big Sisters of Windsor Essex is moving its east end location to downtown.

The organization reported the building on Jefferson Boulevard is being sold with the recent rise in commercial real estate.

“The Board and leadership of BBBSWE are taking a thoughtful and strategic approach to this opportunity,” said Chair of the Board of Directors Andy Sullivan. “We are utilizing funds from the sale of the building to ensure the long-term financial stability of the agency, while also investing in specific projects that will allow the agency to innovate and grow. Ultimately, these changes will allow us to serve more children while also being more responsive to the changing needs of the community.”

BBBSWE will use a new hub and spoke approach by having its main building in downtown Windsor with satellite offices in other community buildings throughout Windsor and Essex County.

“A move to downtown, along with the de-centralization of our services, will allow us to be closer to the families we serve. It will provide easy access to our services, whether participants are driving or taking public transportation,” says Executive Director Becky Parent. “We really care about the youth in our region and are looking forward to becoming an integral part of their neighbourhoods.”

The proceeds from the building sale will go toward helping the organization meet its goal of servicing children in the community. The organization helps around 800-500 children a year through seven distinct programs offered throughout Windsor and Essex County.
