Dilkens commits to establishing new industrial park in Sandwich South

City of Windsor Mayoral candidate Drew Dilkens says if re-elected he will focus on servicing the Sandwich South lands to create a new industrial park.

Dilkens says these lands are crucial when competing for future investments and landing more jobs in the future.

“If we don’t undertake the smart, strategic planning and servicing to unlock Sandwich South, then the development, jobs and growth will just go elsewhere. Our region is poised for significant growth in the next 10-20 years and we need to walk the talk and operate at the pace of business,” said Dilkens.

As part of his economic development platform, Dilkens also promises to extend Lauzon Parkway to the 401 and work with the Ontario government to build a new highway interchange.

He is also looking to establish a dedicated team at city hall to offer start-to-finish services for developers.

"If re-elected I will renew and invest additional funding in community improvement programs to help fund more redevelopment and investments in established neighbourhoods and in BIAs," said Dilkens.

Dilkens' full economic development strategy can be found here.

The municipal election is on October 24, 2022.

Dilkens faces Benjamin Danyluk, Aaron Day, Matthew Giancola, Chris Holt, Ernie Lamont, and Louis Vaupotic.
