WIFF gets a boost from federal government

This year's Windsor International Film Festival received a $500,000 grant through the federal government's Tourism Relief Fund.

The grant will go toward funding three full-time staff and an expansion of programming.

“We are thankful to the Federal Government for their support,” said Vincent Georgie, Executive Director and Chief Programmer for WIFF. “These funds will allow for growth of the festival and is a first step in helping us to achieve our vision of an industry-leading, nationally-recognized, cultural destination.”

This year's festival will run for 11 days from October 27 to November 6, 2022.

"Our federal government is thrilled to support WIFF and the incredible community of volunteers and supporters that make this film festival so unique in Canada,” says Irek Kusmierczyk, Member of Parliament for Windsor—Tecumseh. “In enthusiastically supporting our arts and culture, we are supporting the vitality and economy of Windsor-Essex."

The full festival line-up will be announced on October 6, 2022. Tickets will also go on sale on that day.
