Ontarians head to the polls

It's Election Day in Ontario and voters will head to their polling stations to cast a ballot for their preferred choice for Member of Provincial Parliament.

Polling stations open at 9 a.m. and will close 12 hours later at 9 p.m.

WindsorNewsToday.ca will have the results online as they come in locally and provincially.

Locally, only one incumbent is running for re-election in Windsor, NDP candidate Lisa Gretzky in Windsor West.  She is running against John Leontowicz of the Progressive Conservatives, Ontario Liberal Party candidate Linda McCurdy, Jeremy Palko with the Ontario Party, Joshua Griffin with the New Blue Party, and the Green Party's Krysta Glovasky.

Windsor-Tecumseh will have a new MP at the end of the night.  Percy Hatfield decided not to run again, so Gemma Grey-Hall is running for the New Democrats.  Tecumseh Town Councillor Andrew Dowie is running under the Progressive Conservative banner, while Windsor City Councillor Gary Kaschak is the Liberal candidate.  Filling out the rest of the ballot is Steven Gifford with the Ontario Party, the Green Party's Melissa Coulbeck, and Sophia Sevo for the New Blue Party.

Essex will also have a new MP.  Taras Natyshak, the long-time Member there decided not to seek re-election.  The NDP's candidate is Ron LeClair.  Former Amherstburg Deputy Mayor Anthony Leardi represents the Progressive Conservatives, while Frank Causarano runs for the Ontario Party, Danielle Sylvester for the New Blue, Nicholas Wendler for the Green Party, and Manpreet Brar for the Liberals.

Rick Nicholls, the incumbent in Chatham-Kent-Leamington, is running again, but not for the Progressive Conservatives.  This time around, he is the Ontario Party candidate.  The Progressive Conservatives are running Trevor Jones in that riding, while Brock McGregor runs for the NDP, Jennifer Sureus represents the Green Party and Rhonda Jubenville for the New Blue.

Liberal candidate Audrey Festeryga dropped out of the race in Chatham-Kent-Leamington after Elections Ontario launched an investigation into allegations signatures for her nomination were obtained fraudulently.
