Encore pays off for Windsor man

A $1 bet led to a $100,000 windfall for a Windsor man.

David Turner put down an extra loonie for the December 27, 2021 draw of Encore. He matched the last six digits to win the second prize of $100,000.

Turner, who works in manufacturing, picked up his prize last week at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

"I have been playing at the same store for the past three years and this is my first big win," said Turner. "I scanned the ticket using the OLG App and discovered my win. I was a little shocked and overwhelmed, I announced the news to my family at a barbecue, and my sister freaked out. Everyone is so happy for me."

Turner, who bought his winning ticket at the A-2-Z Convenience Store on Tecumseh Road East in Windsor, plans to invest some of the winnings and put the rest toward a new home.
