Summer is making one last stand before the school year starts.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Windsor-Essex County. A two-day heat event will start on Sunday and last until early Tuesday.
Temperatures are expected to reach near 31 degrees on Sunday and Monday with the overnight low near 21 degrees on Monday. Humidex values are expected to be in the mid to high thirties.
"There is the potential for warm and humid conditions to persist on Tuesday, however precipitation and cloud cover will likely inhibit temperatures from exceeding the 30 degree Celsius mark," the weather agency said.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and the public is warned to beware of heat induced illnesses.
Symptoms of heat illnesses can include:
• swelling
• rash
• cramps
• fainting
• heat exhaustion
• heat stroke
• worsening of other health conditions
In an effort to keep cool; drink water even before feeling thirsty and stay in a cool place.
