Speaking from Kingsville Thursday afternoon, Premier Doug Ford said the federal government and Stellantis appear to be "inches away" from reaching a deal.
Despite reports that the deal was done, Ford said some details are still being hammered out.
"I know it's been a little bit of a rollercoaster, up and down, but I am very confident with the partnership with the federal government and us stepping up we're going to get this deal done," said Ford.
Three weeks ago, Stellantis stopped construction on most of the NextStar Energy facility claiming the federal government was not living up to commitments made to the company.
Since that time, there has been talk of at least a portion of the project relocating south of the border.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens, the union and other stakeholders have been calling on the government to finalize a deal that will see all pieces of the facility move forward.
The plant was expected to create 2,500 direct jobs in the region.
"We're going to get this deal done. I am just very, very confident, we're just inches away from making this happen," said Ford.
