Travellers at Windsor International Airport (YQG) may notice an unusual appearance of the baggage claim area.
The Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers (OGVG) has launched its "This is Greenhouse Goodness" campaign by recreating a greenhouse in the terminal's baggage claim.
OGVG Executive Director Richard Lee said the purpose of the campaign is to highlight and promote southwestern Ontario's vital agri-business industry.
"The Windsor International Airport represents the dedication and innovation that truly defines Ontario's greenhouse vegetable growers," said Lee. "We are proud to be the largest exporter of fresh, nutritious greenhouse produce that contributes significantly to the economic vitality of our region supporting food security."
People flying in and out of YQG, along with airport staff, will be greeted with messaging that shows facts and figures on the region's agricultural output. In Windsor-Essex alone, the agri-business sector employs about 32,000 people, with 503-million kilograms of fresh produce grown in the area.
The display will remain at the airport for two years.
