Mayor of Amherstburg recovering from fall

The Mayor of the Town of Amherstburg is recovering from a broken hip after suffering a fall over the weekend.

According to a release from the town, Mayor Michael Prue fell on Saturday, November 25. Following prompt medical attention, he underwent successful surgery on Monday.

"We are pleased to announce that the surgery went well, and Mayor Prue expects to return home in the next few days," read the release. "He looks forward to resuming his regular duties as soon as possible."

Mayor Prue did attempt to participate in Monday's council meeting, but due to "limited Wi-Fi service at the hospital," could only take part in the first 45 minutes.

During Mayor Prue's absence, Deputy Mayor Chris Gibb will step in to fulfil his mayoral duties, as required.
