Lakeshore shows off newly-upgraded park

Members of Lakeshore Council took time to check out improvements made to a popular park.

Council members this week toured St. Clair Shores Park on Amy Croft Drive, which recently reopened after being shut down earlier this year for upgrades.

"Public spaces and parks like this one improve the quality of life of our residents and visitors, and we are thrilled to see these improvements at St. Clair Shores Park," said Mayor Tracey Bailey. "We appreciate everyone in the neighbourhood who provided their feedback on the park. Feedback from neighbours and park users is critical to ensuring that our investments meet the needs of the community."

The park features the Municipality's first example of solar-powered bollards for lighting along the new asphalt walking trail. The playground structure got a fresh coat of paint, and a new pavilion was built on a new concrete pad.

A new basketball court has been installed, with the installation of nets and painted lines still to come. The park also features new grass berms, an open play area, and accessibility improvements.

The park's design also allows for a future dry pond, which allows for temporary storage of stormwater to help reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rain.

The total tender of the project, according to the Municipality, is $386,643.26.
