Celebrating healthy workplaces with Gord Smith Awards

If you were thinking of nominating a workplace for this year's Gord Smith Healthy Workplace Awards, you have more time.

The deadline is now March 1.

The awards recognize workplaces striving to improve the health, safety, and overall well-being of employees and communities.

"The past few years have presented challenges for all of us," said Chair of the Working Toward Wellness Committee Jon Beveridge. "We are hoping that recent updates to the Awards program will encourage greater participation and allow for the return to an in-person event. We fully appreciate that many organizations are doing wonderful things to support their employees but struggle to find the time or resources to put all of that into a formal application."

The committee oversees the awards process.

Organizations can apply for one of five levels. They are Rising Star, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The application form is online.

Gord Smith was a strong advocate for comprehensive workplace wellness programs. He was the chair of Heart Health Action Windsor-Essex and Go For Health.

A celebratory event is planned for this spring.
