Students attending new schools in Tecumseh and Kingsville this September will finally know what to call their school after Tuesday's Greater Essex County District School Board trustees' meeting.
Trustees reviewed a list of possible names at previous meetings and will choose one of two options on Tuesday night.
Tecumseh's new school on Tecumseh Road, just west of Arlington Boulevard, could be named North Shore Public School or Beacon Heights Public School.
Other proposed names were Southern Pathways, Creekside Heights, Ryegate Heritage, Waterside Heights, and Riverwood Heights.
The board chose the names after public input and careful consideration of the area's historical and cultural background.
When it opens in September, it will house 651 students from Tecumseh and Lakeshore, replace D.M. Eagle Public School, and relieve pressure on Tecumseh Vista Academy.
The kindergarten to grade 8 school will include English and French Immersion tracks and will cost $22.5-million when construction is complete.
In Kingsville, the new $59-million school on Jasperson Drive will be named either Kingsville District Academy or Greater Kingsville Academy.
School board trustees also considered Kingsville Lakeside Academy, Lakeside Academy, and Greater Kingsville District Academy.
The kindergarten to grade 12 school will house 1,045 elementary and 753 secondary school students and replace Jack Miner Public School, Kingsville Public School and Kingsville District High School.
