With City of Windsor parking garages soon to be added to its Passport Canada Parking App, city officials say the app is so popular it recorded its 750,000th transaction.
The city launched the app in December 2017.
The transaction was at the pay-and-display machine in the city parking lot at Tecumseh Road East and Moy Avenue, and the user was area business owner Christian Pinard. Mayor Drew Dilkens presented him with a commemorative plaque on Wednesday morning.
Pinard told city officials he loved the convenience of the app and frequently tells customers to use it too.
Drivers can use the Passport Canada Parking App at 1,400 street metres and 29 off-street parking lots throughout the city.
"Since its implementation, we are happy to report that the number of motorists using Passport to make their paid parking easier continues to grow," said Coordinator of Parking Services Bill Kralovensky.
The app is also available at the Windsor Regional Hospital's Ouellette Campus and Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare's Tayfour campus.
