Lauzon Parkway construction continues next week

An $18-million construction project on Lauzon Parkway starts next week.

This is phase three of the sewer and road rehabilitation along Lauzon Parkway and will focus on the section between Hawthorne Drive and Cantelon Drive.

"You will see, of course, above ground work new sidewalks, new pavement but below ground also we're dealing with some of the implementation of our Sewer Masterplan trying to make the roadway and the area more resilient. There's underground storage and pipes to deal with storm drainage and runoff," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.

Roadway construction is expected to continue until December. Some work in the median will continue into next construction season.

"Lauzon is a real critical piece of infrastructure for us. Both because it carries 30,000 vehicles a day but also the connection that it will have eventually to the 401 at Lauzon. The province is building a $125 million cloverleaf there once they finish their engineering and [environmental assessment] work. We will have to be able to connect our version of Lauzon Road to that cloverleaf when they're done," said Dilkens.
