Commercial fridges recalled for fire hazard

Health Canada has issued a recall for a line of commercial refrigerators that could pose a fire hazard.

The recall was issued for True Commercial Refrigerators with Secop Compressors. The compressor can reportedly fail in a manner that causes it to overheat, posing a potential fire hazard.

True Manufacturing received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada from the fridges, as of June 17.

While the fridges are mostly sold for commercial use, some have been sold directly to consumers in Canada.

The recalled refrigerators are black or stainless steel in colour, and have configurations with double, triple, and sliding doors. You can find a list of the impacted model and serial numbers here.

True Manufacturing is contacting all known purchasers directly, but if you own a fridge and have not heard from them, get in contact for a free repair.

The company can be reached toll-free at 1-855-203-0185, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, by email at info@true-secopcompressor-retrofit.com, or online.
