Windsor police have arrested a second suspect following a series of violent holdups.
Officers were called at around 3 p.m. Tuesday to a business on Erie Street East near Parent Avenue. They learned that one suspect entered wearing a Black Panther mask, took out a weapon, and demanded merchandise. While an employee and a bystander disarmed the first suspect, the other entered brandishing a knife.
Both suspects fled the scene empty-handed in a stolen vehicle. Police found an airsoft pistol left at the store and a bag that was believed to belong to the suspects.
The first suspect was found shortly after at a business on Tecumseh Road East near Howard Avenue and arrested. The stolen vehicle was seized, along with fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine.
Investigators later determined that at least one of the suspects was involved in three armed robberies that took place the day before, Remembrance Day.
A 41-year-old man is now charged with five counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited, four counts of pointing a firearm, four counts of wearing a disguise to commit an offence, three counts of armed robbery, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count each of robbery, assault, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
On Thursday afternoon, police arrested a 27-year-old man, on charges of armed robbery, assault, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The charges have not been proven in court.
