Water bills in Lakeshore may be impacted by Canada Post strike

The Municipality of Lakeshore has warned residents that their future water bills may not reach their mailboxes.

The strike involving Canada Post and employees represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has resulted in people being forced to make contingency plans to ensure that they pay their bills on time.

But, Lakeshore Mayor Tracey Bailey said staff are doing everything to minimize the impact.

"While the postal strike may disrupt our operations, our team is dedicated to mitigating those impacts and ensuring the delivery of high-quality service to our residents and customers," said Bailey.

The Municipality has already mailed out water bills for November, but December bills for Area 2, which consists of the area between Manning Road and Rochester Townline, not including the Belle River urban area; will not be delivered if the strike persists.

To get around this, Lakeshore encourages residents to use e-billing, where bills will be sent via email. To ensure that you receive the December water bill, you must sign up by Wednesday, November 20.

Residents may also set their bank accounts to pay their bills with a pre-authorized payment plan. Billing information may also be obtained by calling (519) 728-2700 during regular business hours.
