Figure skating competition comes to Lakeshore in February

Lakeshore will welcome the province's best figure skaters to town later this winter.

Skate Lakeshore will host its first Provincial Series Competition on February 14, 15, and 16, 2025, at the Atlas Tube Centre.

"The Skate Ontario Provincial Series is a figure skating competition series that allows athletes to qualify for the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships," said Chairperson Sarah Malott. "We are so excited to have been selected as a first-time host for one of these events, which will allow skaters from across Ontario to compete at this local competition."

Lakeshore is one of two Windsor-Essex communities hosting the Provincial Series Competition. Skate LaSalle is holding its own event from January 31 to February 2.

There are 15 Provincial Series events scheduled throughout the province.

Skate Lakeshore is a not-for-profit organization run by a small group of dedicated volunteers, offering skating programs for those aged 3 to adult.

The group is looking for plenty of volunteers to help with the February event. Secondary school students looking for volunteer hours are strongly encouraged to register.

Complete information about the Skate Ontario Provincial Series can be found on its official website.
