The Essex Region Conservation Authority has extended its flood outlook statement to New Year's Day.
Over a 36-hour span, some areas in the region received over 40-50 millimetres of rain causing high water levels in the region's major watercourses.
The authority encourages people to take extra caution and avoid any areas where flooding may be occurring.
Water levels are expected to remain high throughout the next few days as the watercourses drain towards Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River, and Lake Erie.
Officials will continue monitoring forecasts and field conditions and update the flood outlook as necessary.
