Nobody's jumped in the pool yet, but LaSalle Police say they've surpassed their goal for Thursday night's Polar Plunge, not just a little.
The goal for the first Polar Plunge hosted by the LaSalle Police Service was $10,000, but as of Thursday morning, over $44,000 had been donated.
More than 700 people have donated to support Special Olympics Ontario.
Registration for the event is at 4:30 p.m., and the plunge gets underway at 6 p.m. at the LaSalle Event Centre on Front Road.
Constable Alaina Atkins said the police service is overwhelmed by the response from the community.
"We're really blessed at the turnout," she said. "It's going to be a great event. Anybody that's able to come out and watch, they're in for a great time."
Already, 120 jumpers have registered for the event, and most of the donations come from either participants or those supporting people making the plunge.
