An important document has been sent to residents and business owners in the City of Windsor.
The interim property tax bills for 2025 have been mailed, and recipients should have received them now.
"Consistent with prior years, the Interim billing amount is approved at 50 per cent of the property taxes paid in 2024," read a release from the City. "Changes resulting from MPAC assessment updates are reflected on the tax bill. An adjustment on the tax bill titled '2025 Interim Tax Cap Adjustment' reflects any adjustment necessary to meet the 50 per cent limitation."
Due dates for regular tax payments are February 19, March 19, and April 16. Payment must be received by the City on or before the dates, and failure to receive a bill does not exempt the recipient from paying.
You can make payments through your bank or credit union. If you have your payments set up through a bank account or mortgage, you'll get a notice for your records.
Tax payments may also be made through telephone or online banking, or in person via cheque only at the first-floor dropbox at 350 City Hall Square West.
The City also offers three pre-authorized payment plans, for which enrollment can be completed at any time.
If you are having trouble keeping up with your payments, the City has strongly encouraged you to find lower-cost financing, available through many banks and credit unions. The City also offers a tax relief program, a tax repayment program, and a tax deferral program. Details are on the City's official website.
If you have not received your final tax bill, or if you have a question or concern about it, call 311 or use the 311 app.
