City of Windsor to receive Blue Jays grant

The Cullen Field baseball diamond in MicMac Park will be getting some upgrades thanks to the Jays Care Foundation.

The project was one of 15 projects across the country selected for the Field of Dreams grant program.

“Jays Care is thrilled to partner with these 15 outstanding organizations, all committed to bringing the game of baseball to more children and youth across the country. These new diamonds will be more than just places to play; they’ll be hubs for community connection where young people can get active, learn, and grow a love for the game of baseball," said Peter King, Acting Executive Director, Jays Care Foundation. "Now more than ever, we’re proud to invest in Canadian communities and create opportunities for kids to experience the power of being part of a team. Thank you to all who submitted proposals, and we look forward to seeing these projects come to life and the positive impact they’ll have on the next generation from coast to coast to coast.”

The City of Windsor will receive $150,000 towards the refurbishment of the Father Cullen Baseball Stadium backstop.

"“We are thankful that the Toronto Blue Jays have selected us to receive this funding,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “Father Cullen Stadium is our premier baseball stadium in Windsor. It has been home to and will continue to host many national and provincial baseball championships. This generous funding from the Jays Care Foundation will help to ensure that the stadium continues to be used by both our local associations and the many teams that come to Windsor for tournaments and events."

The project is scheduled to start this fall, immediately following the 2025 baseball season. The goal is to have the diamond ready for the 2026 season.

Since the program’s inception, Jays Care has invested more than $20 million in 232 Field Of Dreams projects across the country.
