Windsor-Essex has plenty of ways to celebrate Canada Day

Most Windsor-Essex municipalities are inviting the public to help Canada celebrate its 158th birthday.

Residents will have a choice to show Canadian pride with parades, barbeques, fireworks, and other activities.

Windsor

The centrepiece of the area's Canada Day celebration is the annual parade in downtown Windsor.

The march is put on by the Windsor Parade Corporation in partnership with the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA).

The parade steps off at 10 a.m. Tuesday on Ouellette Avenue and Giles Boulevard, then will proceed north through the downtown core and end at Pitt Street.

There will also be a Canada Arts Fair on University Avenue between Pelissier Street and Freedom Way. The fourth annual event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature 30 vendors with live entertainment and free hands-on activities.

Amherstburg

The Town of Amherstburg has planned a whole day of activities in its historic core.

A Canada Day run will start things off at 9 a.m. Throughout the day, Fort Malden National Historic Site will offer free admission.

Free activities are planned throughout the afternoon, including Mighty Machines, field hockey with Amherstburg Admirals players, a scavenger hunt, and live music and dance performances.

A fireworks display will go off at dusk with easy sightlines at King's Navy Yard Park and Fort Malden.

Essex

The focal point of the Town of Essex's Canada Day party will be the Harrow Fairgrounds.

The Harrow Rotary Club is putting on an evening of events beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, with food trucks, local vendors, games, and live entertainment, with the climax being an evening fireworks show.

Kingsville

The Town of Kingsville's Canada Day event begins at 4 p.m. at Kingsville Arena.

Live music by Sabor Latino, Canadian Gold Rush, and Buck Twenty will be offered at the JV Energy Solutions stage.

There will also be Kingsville Express train rides, a vendor marketplace, food trucks, lawn games, mini golf, Spike Ball, a bouncy castle, a Pac-Man maze, and an obstacle course.

A fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m.

Lakeshore

According to the Municipality, Canada Day will be celebrated in Woodslee.

A parade will step off at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by opening ceremonies and an evening of various activities.

Food vendors and live music will be offered, and everything is capped with an evening fireworks show.

The celebration will take place at 1925 South Middle Road.

LaSalle

The Town of LaSalle will offer a Canada Day drone show as the highlight of its party. For a complete rundown of planned events, see our story.

Leamington

The Municipality kicks off its annual Music on the 42 Summer Concert Series on Canada's birthday.

Jen Knight is scheduled to take the stage at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Bob Seger tribute act Forever Seger. A fireworks display will end the evening.

Tecumseh

The Town of Tecumseh will spread out its Canada Day plans to three area parks.

At Lakewood Park North, there will be a family picnic and concert from noon to 2 p.m. Live music and food trucks will be on hand.
