The Ontario Provincial Police is looking for two suspects after an elderly woman was the victim of a distraction theft.
That's where the thief distracts the victim, often by offering a gift, while they steal something from the person.
Windsor Police issued a warning about two incidents last month.
The most recent incident was between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Wednesday. The victim was walking along Revland Drive when a vehicle approached, and a teenage girl rolled down a rear window and called the woman over.
The teen placed a ring on the woman's finger, saying it was for her mother's birthday and she needed to size it. She also placed a bracelet on the victim's wrist while she removed a gold necklace and pendant from around her neck.
The vehicle was driven by a man with an olive complexion and a strong Eastern European accent. The man was heavy-set and about 40-years-old.
The investigation is part of a broader, ongoing pattern of distraction thefts across the region. Police urge residents to be vigilant, especially in crowded places where distraction thefts are more likely to occur.
If you think you've been a victim, don't hesitate to call the police.
