LaSalle Gives Back is back

Once again, LaSalle firefighters and volunteers will be on the streets of LaSalle to distribute newsletters and accept donations.

LaSalle Gives Back gets underway Thursday morning in its second-annual fundraiser to support local non-profits and organizations that assist youth.

Until 2023, LaSalle firefighters participated in the annual Windsor Goodfellows Holiday Christmas Food Boxes campaign. While some of those donations remained in LaSalle, most of the money was directed to Windsor.

This year's recipients are the St. Andrews Anglican Church Community Foodbank and LaSalle Hangout for Youth. By keeping the donations in LaSalle, organizers hope to raise enough cash to support residents, not just through the holidays, but year-round.

"Every act of kindness counts," said Ryan Petrozzi, a volunteer firefighter with the LaSalle Fire Service. "Even a $2 donation can go a long way in supporting our neighbours right here in LaSalle. It's eye-opening to see how much compassion and generosity our community shows, and just how many people benefit from that support.

In inaugural LaSalle Gives Back raised $66,049.

The fundraiser will continue on Friday and Saturday.
